Douglas "Lit" Litwiller Obituary

Douglas Paul Litwiller, 64, of Ames, died suddenly January 26, 2024, at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Private funeral services are to be held with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Manson. Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Litwiller family and mailed to 2150 Stevenson Dr. Ames, IA 50010. A memorial bench will be placed in honor of Doug on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. The family would greatly appreciate it if all who knew and loved him, could share a favorite, fun memory of Doug, on his memorial page here. 

Douglas Paul Litwiller was born February 24, 1959, the son of Earl and Marlys (Dornath) Litwiller. He was a 1977 Manson High School graduate and went on to Iowa State University earning his degree in Mechanical Engineering. On June 13, 1981, Doug married his high school sweetheart, Jill Becker. The couple lived in St. Louis while Doug worked for Shell Oil. In 1982, they made their home in Ames, Iowa and raised their two children. Doug touched many lives during his career, working at Iowa Electric, Iowa Methodist, Alliant Energy, Iowa State University, his own company OTB (Outside of The Box), University of Iowa as the Director of Energy Management, Clear Result, Waldinger and currently was working for BMOC.

Doug loved playing the electric guitar, going to wineries, and enjoyed live music. He also loved watching the 3 Stooges and the Bugs Bunny Cartoons by Mel Blanc. Time spent with his family and their spring break trips to Indian Rocks Beach, FL will always be treasured memories.

Those left to cherish his memory; his wife Jill Litwiller, daughter Sarah (Shawn) Wiemers, son Nicholas (Adrienne) Litwiller, granddaughter Penelope Litwiller.
